Whether you have a question about something you have read, a fox doing something odd in your garden, a correction, a photograph, or a copyright matter — write to us. Fox Hut is a small operation, every message is read by a person, and we usually reply within 1–3 working days.

What we can help with#

“There's a fox in my garden and I don't know what to do”

Tell us what you are seeing, roughly where you are, and the time of year — those three things answer most questions on their own. Many are already covered in how to get rid of foxes, do foxes come out during the day and fox cubs: the first year.

Corrections

If something here is wrong, we want to know — especially if you can point to a source. Corrections are made in the article itself and the “last checked” date is updated. Several pages read differently today because a reader took the trouble to argue with them.

Article suggestions

Is there a fox question you could not get a straight answer to anywhere? Tell us. Reader questions are where a good number of these articles started.

Photographs and sightings

We are always glad to see them. Include roughly where and when, and tell us how you would like to be credited if we use it. Two things we will always do: strip location metadata before publishing, and never publish the location of an active den.

Copyright and takedown notices

Send these to the same address with "Copyright notice" in the subject line. What a notice needs to contain, and how we handle it, is set out in our copyright and DMCA policy.

Privacy requests

To ask what we hold about you, or to have it corrected or deleted, email us with “Privacy request” in the subject line. Your rights, and our response times, are in the privacy policy.

Press, permissions and republishing

For interviews, use of an article in a publication, or reproducing an infographic elsewhere, get in touch — we say yes to most reasonable educational requests. What is allowed without asking is set out in our terms of service.

Things that will get a slower reply#

• Guest post and link-exchange offers. We do not publish guest posts or sell links, and these are not answered.
• Requests to identify an animal from a very dark photo. We will try, but tell us the country and the size of the animal relative to something in frame — it doubles the chance of a useful answer.
• Anything asking how to trap, poison or kill a fox. We will point you to humane exclusion instead, because that is what actually solves the problem.

Before you write#

A quick check of these may get you an answer immediately: the screaming in January is normal seasonal calling; a fox out at midday in June is almost certainly fine; and a cub sitting alone on a lawn in May is usually being watched by a parent.
